Q: What will I learn in this class?

Q: What does this class prepare me to do?
A: This class includes basic computer skills needed for today’s workplace. The training prepares individuals to perform basic computer-based clerical and administrative tasks such as drafting correspondence; creating and editing documents, basic Google spreadsheets, Google slide presentations, surveys/polls and organizing/maintaining paper or electronic files.
Q: What are the prerequisites/requirements to take the class?
A. In order to take this class:
● all Adult Education students must be 18 years or older. Participants must take the orientation assessment and score 18 or above on the CASAS 601R (or equivalent on CASAS Goals/Steps) and be able to do math at 7th grade level or higher.
● You will need a chromebook or computer/laptop with a Windows 10 or higher operating system.
● You will need a reliable Internet connection.
Q: What are the completion requirements for this course?
A: In order to complete this course, you will need to complete all required assignments with a score of 80% and pass the final tests/projects for Google Apps, Microsoft Word, Filing and Keyboarding with a speed of 35 wpm. A certificate will be given for each section you complete throughout the program and a final Foundations of BIW certificate will be presented at the end of the program, when you have passed all of the final tests/projects.

A: You can register in person at 1600 Lincoln Avenue, Napa, online at: adulted.nvusd.org or by calling (707) 253-3594.
Q: Can I start the program at any point?
A: We highly recommend starting at the beginning of the program. However, there are other entry points, listed below. If you enter while the program is in session, you will be required to make up the portions you missed in the next class offering to obtain your full program certificate. If you do not make up the classes you missed you will receive certificates for the individual sections of the program you did attend.

Q: What payment will you accept for the class?
A: Credit/Debit card is the only form of payment accepted.
Completion of Orientation is required prior to final registration.
All students who register for these classes will take a reading assessment/test. The assessments will be sent out virtually via email on Monday, August 5, 2024. Look for an email from CASAS or Etests. You will have 24 hours to complete the assessment from when you receive your email invitation. This assessment can be taken on a computer, Chromebook, tablet or smartphone. Once
